To fans of the original " Predator " hoping that Alan Silvestr i would reprise his role as composer for this year's prequel " Predators ": you're out of luck. Instead, Film Music News reports that " Iron Man 2 " composer John Debney will be supplying the score for the Robert Rodriguez -produced film. Debney has worked with Rodriguez before on " Spy Kids " and " Sin City " as well as a myriad of other films.

So far the Grammys, the Golden Globes, the Broadcast Film Critics and the BAFTAs have all given nods to Giacchino's score to the Pixar animated film "Up," and it seems Giacchino may not be facing any serious competition in this category. The two other potential juggernauts are James Horner's "Avatar" and Marco Beltrami and Buck Sanders' "The Hurt Loc

Composer Michael Giacchino was awarded the prize for his work on the film at the ceremony held at the Royal Opera House in London 's Covent Garden.  

On Feb 27, the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay Symphonic Band and Wind Symphony is giving a concert based on sf/f films, video-games, and books, which sounds awesome. And I'l honored that the prof who organized it, Kevin Collins, cited my last couple of novels as inspiration for the theme. "I think that it's fair to say that this program was especially inspired by (Doctorow's) "Makers" and "Little Brother," Collins said. "I find myself fascinated by his descriptions of the contemporary popular sub-cul
